Mission: To encourage and promote the creation, production, and consumption of wholesome family entertainment.
Why We Think They’re Great: The Dove Foundation was started in 1990 by a group of dads looking for better ways to identify family-friendly movies. Their “standards and criteria are based on Judeo/Christian values, free from the pressure of commercial interests.” The Dove Foundation utilizes volunteers to help review and analyze movies, even before they are released in theatres, to identify questionable content and the recommended viewer age. Once a movie is reviewed, they post the review to their website all adult-content in the movie in an easy-to-read format. Bad language, nudity, drugs or violence, and moral points are identified, and a synopsis of the overall story message is provided. You’re even given the point at which the unfavorable content is shown. This means parents can check out the website, and make an educated decision as to what they want their family to watch. Please visit their website at www.Dove.org for movie reviews, foundation information, and ways to donate.
