At ReEmployAbility, our team is committed to giving back—not only through our work but by engaging with local communities directly. This fall, Placement Specialist Kris Crispin embraced this commitment by volunteering at the Mulberry Community Center. Kris shared his inspiring experience with us, showcasing the profound impact small acts of kindness can have on both individuals and the community.
From Giving Back to Paying Forward
For Kris, the decision to volunteer was deeply personal. A visit to his brother’s house, which is located near the Mulberry Community Center, reminded him of the organization’s vital role in supporting the local community. “Their mission aligns with my vision of always helping those in need in any way you can, even if it’s in a small way,” Kris said. This alignment of values motivated him to step forward and offer his support.
When asked about the most impactful moment from his time volunteering, Kris recounted a truly touching experience:
“The managers shut the store down for a few minutes while they sang happy birthday to two of the volunteers and got them a birthday cake that they shared with everyone. One of the volunteers, Chris, mentioned how appreciative he was—he had never had a birthday cake.”

This simple act of kindness exemplified the spirit of the Mulberry Community Center. It wasn’t just about the services provided; it was about fostering a sense of belonging and joy for everyone involved.
From Giving Back to Paying Forward
Kris’s time at the Center also opened his eyes to the challenges the nonprofit faces. He learned about the pressing need for donations and services to support those in the area. This realization inspired him to take further action:
“I’ll be sending a few donations their way soon,” Kris shared, underscoring his commitment to making a lasting impact.
Volunteering is a powerful way to give back, create meaningful connections, and make a tangible difference in the lives of others. By donating your time and skills, you not only help meet critical community needs but also experience the personal joy and growth that come from helping others. Even small acts of kindness can create ripple effects, inspiring change and fostering hope where it’s needed most—why not start today?
Kris had a simple but powerful message for those considering volunteering:
“Definitely get involved. Understand their needs, how much they do for the community, and continue to get involved after. Those small efforts all combine to help so many people in real need of donations such as clothing, food, and basic services.”
By lending a hand, Kris believes volunteers contribute to a ripple effect that can transform communities, one act of kindness at a time.
Looking Ahead
Kris’s experience at Mulberry Community Center has left him inspired to do more. He’s already signed up to volunteer at another nearby location where he grew up, continuing his journey of giving back.
We’re incredibly proud of Kris’s efforts and thankful for his dedication to making a difference. As he aptly said, “Thank you, ReEmployAbility, for offering this—it was great!”
