Handbags & Happy Hour is an annual event where attendees are given an opportunity to mingle, have a cocktail, and bid on donated designer purses and luxury gifts – all in the name of charity.
This time last year, ReEmployAbility CEO Debra Livingston found herself inspired by the remarkable stories of survival she heard while attending The Spring of Tampa Bay’s annual event. So much so, that she ended up joining the organization’s board of directors that fall.
The Spring is a local nonprofit organization located in Tampa, FL. It is one of the largest domestic violence centers in Florida and is the first domestic violence agency in the United States to have an accredited on-site school for resident children.
Since opening in 1977, The Spring of Tampa Bay has assisted more than 60,000 abused adults and their children. Not only do they provide the victims with shelter, they also assist in getting the victims to rebuild their lives and realize they can be strong and there are people always available to help them along the way.
This year’s event raised over $50,000. All proceeds will fund education, housing, outreach and prevention programs, and much more for the organization.
Once again ReEmployAbility sponsored the event and several team members joined Deb to participate in giving back to the community. Though many came out winners, those who did not score a hot couture item were so inspired that they still donated to the cause.
